Monica Alves, MD, PhD, is currently Professor and researcher Department of Ophthalmology at University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil. Ophthalmologist, graduated in Medicine at Federal University of Juiz de Fora (1998). PhD at University of Campinas (2006) in dry eye in animal models of diabetes and aging and post doc at the University of São Paulo (2011), in clinical studies of dry eye and ocular surface. A Member of Brazilian Council of Ophthalmology, American Academy of Opththalmology, ARVO, Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society and Pan American Academy of Opththalmology. Editorial Board member of Ophthalmology section of the journal Scientific Reports, Arquivos Brasileiros de Oftalmologia and reviewer of several other peer-reviewed journals. Also involved with ophthalmic clinical and surgical practice, resident training and research on ocular surface and dry eye. TFOS: Ambassador in Brazil, DEWS member on Epidemiology Committee, member of the TFOS Young Investigator Committee Member of Ocular Graft-Versus-Host-Disease diagnostic study group.
